“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Plantation Drive Organized at AMU

TNN News : In a significant step towards environmental protection and in alignment with the national campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” a plantation drive was organized at Aligarh Muslim University under the leadership of Prof. Habib Raza, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal, J.N. Medical College. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and staff, who pledged their commitment to a greener and healthier future.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Habib Raza emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and the pivotal role of academic institutions in raising awareness. He remarked that trees are not only the lifeline of the planet but also embody a sacred bond between generations, carrying forward values of care and sustainability.
The event was graced by senior faculty members including Chairman, Department of Anatomy, Prof. Fazal ur Rehman, Prof. M Athar Ansari, Chairman, Department of Forensic Medicine, Prof. Saadiya Saeed, Chairman Department of TB and Chest Diseases, Prof. Mohd Shameem, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, Prof. Zia ur Rehman, Chairman, Department of Community Medicine, Prof. Uzma Eram Prof. Ghulam Sarwar Hashmi, and, all of whom planted saplings within the campus premises. Each plantation was symbolically dedicated to their mothers, highlighting the emotional essence of the campaign that equates nurturing trees with the nurturing love of a mother.
A large number of students and staff from the Dean and Principal’s office actively participated, making the event vibrant and impactful. The drive concluded with a collective pledge to protect the saplings and ensure their healthy growth, thereby reinforcing the message that planting a tree is an investment in future generations.
The initiative under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” not only enhanced the greenery of the AMU campus but also left a strong imprint of love, responsibility, and sustainability in the hearts of all participants.
