Jamia Hamdard Celebrates 12th International Day of Yoga with Enthusiasm

Jamia Hamdard observed the 12th International Day of Yoga with great zeal and participation. The event was organized by the Yoga Club of the University in line with this year’s global theme of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.

Over 200 participants including students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff actively took part in the yoga session held at Jamia Hamdard campus. The session was led by Yogacharya, Mr. Deepak Singh, who guided the gathering through various asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques, emphasizing the importance of yoga for holistic health and mental well-being.

Prof. Seema Rani, President, Yoga Club, presented the report of the Yoga Club for the session 2025-26. She informed the participants about the Yoga breaks done in between the classes for students; Yoga sessions are held during the Orientation Programs of SNER and SUMER; and during the workshop. Yoga video and Yoga poster competitions and Yoga sessions were organized for students, teachers and non-teaching staff frequently.

Prof. Reshma Nasreen, Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW), welcomed the gathering and highlighted how yoga integrates physical, mental, and spiritual practices to promote harmony and balance in life. She encouraged students to make yoga a part of their daily routine. She spoke about yoga’s role in building discipline, resilience, and focus among youth, and its relevance in today’s stressful lifestyle. She emphasized how Yoga can help mankind ageing in healthy and graceful manner.

Col. Tahir Mustafa, Registrar, Jamia Hamdard, addressed the participants on the significance of International Yoga Day.

Prof. Asgar Ali, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard also addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the Yoga Club in promoting a healthy lifestyle on campus. He stated that Jamia Hamdard remains committed to the vision of integrating traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern education.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Seema Rani, President, Yoga Club, Jamia Hamdard. She expressed gratitude to the university administration, Yogacharya, and all participants for making the event a success.

The celebration reflected Jamia Hamdard’s dedication to fostering wellness, mindfulness, and community spirit through the ancient practice of yoga.
