JMI’s Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre concludes a Six-Day Training Programme on “Indian Knowledge System and Curriculum Design in Higher Education”

The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi, organised a six-day online Training Programme on “Indian Knowledge System and Curriculum Design in Higher Education” from 23rd to 29th September 2026. A total of 150 faculty members from various disciplines, across the country participated in this programme. The programme was envisioned by Prof. Mazhar Asif, the Vice Chancellor of JMI and organized with the support of Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, the Registrar, JMI under the leadership of Prof. Kulwinder Kaur, the Director of MMTTC. The co-ordinator for the course was Prof. Sarika Sharma, from the Department of Teacher Training & Non-formal Education, JMI.
The six-day programme provided an interdisciplinary platform for academic discussion on the integration of IKS into higher educational curricula. The programme was concluded with a valedictory address by Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JMI, who highlighted the significance of NEP-2020 in preserving and transmitting Indian culture, language and history through education. He gave examples from various Indian traditions that were based on scientific principles. To illustrate, he said “India was the only country in the world where kajal was made by recycling of mother’s old cotton saree”. During the feedback session, participants highly appreciated the academic discussions and expressed their interest in further exploring the integration of IKS into their teaching and research.
