Professor Nawab Ali Khan Advocates Strategic Approaches to Rural Sustainability
TNN News : Professor Nawab Ali Khan, Former Chairman and Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University, delivered an impactful lecture on “Promoting Sustainability in Rural Areas: Issues and Challenges” during the One-Week National Workshop on Good Governance and Rural Management: Strategies for Sustainable Development, organized by the University of Kerala Study and Research Centre (UKSRC), Alappuzha.
In his address, Professor Khan highlighted the urgent need to address environmental and socio-economic challenges in rural areas through inclusive policies, participatory governance, and technological innovations. He emphasized the importance of education, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion in empowering rural communities and bridging the urban-rural divide.
He further called for strengthening public-private partnerships, promoting vocational training, and implementing grassroots policy interventions to align governance strategies with local needs.
Highlighting key obstacles such as inadequate infrastructure, economic inequalities, and environmental degradation, Professor Khan called for holistic solutions that integrate sustainable agricultural practices, digital transformation, and community-based governance models. He stressed the importance of education, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion in empowering rural communities and bridging the urban-rural divide.
