Free Pacemaker Interrogation Camp Benefits Over 60 Patients at JN Medical College

TNN News : The Department of Cardiology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized a free Pacemaker Interrogation Camp, which benefitted more than 60 patients from Aligarh and surrounding areas. The camp aimed to assess and optimize the functioning of various pacing devices and create awareness about heart failure management.
A wide range of devices, including Single Chamber, Double Chamber Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs), and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRTs) devices were examined and reprogrammed as required. Expert representatives from leading global companies—Medtronic (USA), St. Jude, and Biotronik—performed the device interrogation and adjusted settings to ensure optimal functionality. Several patients were identified for early device replacement based on the evaluation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Asif Hasan, Chairman of the Department of Cardiology, emphasized the advanced facilities available in the department, such as coronary angioplasty, pacing device management, and ballooning for heart disease. He noted that such camps are highly beneficial for the community, especially for patients from the Aligarh district, as they offer both clinical support and increased awareness regarding pacemakers and heart failure-related technologies.
