Prof. Shambhunath Tiwari from AMU Showcases India-Australia Literary Bond in Sydney Radio Talk

TNN News : Prominent Hindi scholar and Professor at the Department of Hindi, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Prof. Shambhunath Tiwari, made a remarkable mark in promoting Hindi and literary-cultural exchange between India and Australia through a special radio programme hosted at ‘Darpan Studio’, one of the most widely listened-to community Hindi radio channels in Australia.
The intellectually enriching session, coordinated by renowned radio hosts RJ Sanjeev Sharma and Pradeep Upadhyay, focused on the literary and cultural parallels between India and Australia. Prof. Tiwari elaborated on various aspects of Indian literary and cultural landscapes, the interrelation between Hindi and Urdu, the significance of literature in human life, and its broader societal relevance.
Addressing the listeners, he shared his experience of engaging with the Indian diaspora in a city located far away in the Southern Hemisphere, amidst the Western sophistication of a developed nation like Australia. He expressed that despite the geographical distance, the environment created during the radio broadcast felt as homely and culturally rooted as a studio session in any Hindi heartland of India.
The programme, interspersed with music and poetry, resonated deeply with the vibrant Hindi-speaking diaspora of Sydney. Delving into poetry and ‘shayari’, Prof. Tiwari recited several of his own Hindi and Urdu compositions, adding a personal and emotional depth to the discussion.
Speaking about the two-hour-long radio session, Prof. Tiwari remarked, “The Hindi-rich atmosphere in Sydney was so immersive and heartfelt that it felt as though the programme was taking place in a studio back in India
Currently on a two-month literary and cultural tour of Australia, Prof. Tiwari is scheduled to visit multiple cities, participating in a range of literary events and interacting with members of the Hindi-Urdu community.
