AMU Amplifies Government Initiatives through Active Participation in 20th Installment of PM-KISAN Programme

TNN News : In alignment with the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to empower farmers and ensure inclusive development, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) actively participated in the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) programme via video conferencing on August 2. The event, conducted under the directive of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, reflected AMU’s commitment to spreading awareness about key government policies and strengthening outreach at the grassroots level.
The programme was attended by AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon, who reaffirmed the university’s dedication to supporting national missions that aim to improve the lives of Indian farmers. Also present were Prof. Mujeebur Rahman Khan, Nodal Officer (PM-KISAN), Prof. R.U. Khan, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Iqbal Ahmad, Coordinator, B.Sc.
Agriculture, and other senior faculty members.
More than 150 participants, including over 40 women farmers and students, joined the live broadcast hosted at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. Ten PM-KISAN beneficiaries were also present and expressed their gratitude upon receiving the installment during the event.
Following the live address by the Prime Minister, Prof. M.R. Khan urged all farmers to complete their e-KYC verification promptly, highlighting its importance in continuing to benefit from the scheme.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ziaul Haque, and served as a strong example of AMU’s proactive role in bridging academic institutions with national development policies. The University continues to act as a vital conduit in empowering rural communities and enhancing the implementation of government welfare initiatives.
