Anti-Ragging Week Observed at AMU

TNN News : Aligarh Muslim University observed Anti-Ragging Week with a series of awareness programmes and competitions aimed at sensitising students about the harmful consequences of ragging and creating a safe, respectful and inclusive campus environment.
The Department of Home Science organised poster-making, essay writing and debate competitions to spread the message of kindness, respect and discipline. In the Poster Making Competition, Zoobia Masood, Almas Naaz and Shireen Abida secured the first, second and third prizes respectively. The Essay Writing Competition was won by Zaina Khan of B.Sc.

II year, while the Debate Competition concluded with Shireen, Ramsha and Yusra declared winners. Posters carrying the slogan “Ragging is a Crime – Let’s End It Together” were also displayed across the Department to reinforce the campaign.

Sir Ziauddin Hall held a special awareness session in conjunction with Jashn-e-Watan. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Asif Khan, Dean and Chairman, Faculty of Commerce, urged students to revive the Alig culture and firmly reject ragging. Provost Dr. Iftekhar Ahmad Ansari encouraged students to remain focused on academics, while General Warden Dr. Shahab Shabbir emphasised discipline and mutual respect. Senior Resident, Mr. Adnan Khan, called on students to uphold compassion, unity and integrity in residential life.
The observance concluded with a collective pledge by students to maintain harmony, discipline and respect and to stand united against any form of ragging or harassment.
