Extra-Mural Lecture Held on Pharmacological Research at AMU’s Faculty of Unani Medicine

TNN News : The Department of Munafeul Aza, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, organized an Extra-Mural Lecture delivered by Dr Ishrat Rahman, Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dr Rahman, who holds a PhD in Pharmacy (Molecular Pharmacology) from the University of Reading, UK, and post-doctoral experience in vaccine development, has also served as a pharmacologist at Oxford, UK. In her lecture, she presented an engaging discourse on cutting-edge developments in pharmacological research, focusing on common critical pathways in Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, and Cancer. She shared insights from her ongoing research, providing the audience with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and advancements in these critical areas.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the Department, Dr Farooq Ahmad Dar, welcomed the speaker and highlighted the department’s achievements in teaching, research, and its collaborative engagements with national and international institutions.
Dr Dar noted that extra-mural lectures are an integral part of the department’s mission to expose students to global research trends and inspire them towards innovative research in biomedical sciences.
The lecture was attended by residents, postgraduate students, and faculty members from across the Faculty of Unani Medicine, reflecting the wide academic interest and interdisciplinary relevance of the theme.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Aisha Aijaz.
