Jamia Millia Islamia Concludes End Semester Examinations and Admission Tests in Record Time

TNN News : Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has successfully conducted its End Semester Examinations for the academic session 2025–26 and Admission Tests for the academic session 2026–27 in a timely, transparent, and efficient manner.
The End Semester Examinations for more than 280 academic programmes were conducted from 2 May to 25 May 2026, enabling the University to commence its summer vacation as scheduled from 25 May 2026. Approximately 20,000 students appeared in these examinations across various undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programmes.
The University also ensured the timely declaration of examination results. The Office of the Controller of Examinations issued comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for students and faculty members to facilitate the smooth conduct of examinations and the prompt submission of evaluated answer scripts. Consequently, nearly 800 examination results were declared within the stipulated timeline.
For the first time, SWAYAM courses were integrated into the University’s academic curriculum and examination system, in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The timely declaration of results, along with the prompt issuance of grade sheets and provisional degrees, has enabled students to apply for higher education and avail employment opportunities without delay.
The Office of the Controller of Examinations also successfully conducted admission tests for more than 280 programmes for the academic session 2026–27. In addition, entrance examinations for Ph.D. programmes and the Residential Coaching Academy – Civil Services Coaching Programme were conducted smoothly and on schedule.
The University received more than one lakh applications for admission to its Undergraduate, Postgraduate, PG Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, and Certificate programmes. Admission tests were successfully conducted in 16 cities across the country, namely Delhi, Lucknow, Patna, Srinagar, Jammu, Jaipur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bhopal, Kishanganj, Dehradun, Calicut, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ranchi.
Admissions to 25 academic programmes will be based on CUET scores, while admissions to B.Tech. and B.Arch.programmes will be based on JEE (Main) 2026 and NATA 2026 rankings, respectively. Admissions to the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP B.Ed.) will be made on the basis of NCET 2026 merit. The process of declaration of admission results has already commenced.
The University also conducted admission tests for Jamia Schools for Classes VI, IX, and XI (Science, Arts, and Commerce) in five cities. More than 53,594 applications were received for admission to the school programmes.
Prof. Ahteshamul Haque, Controller of Examinations, expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif, and the Hon’ble Registrar, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, for their constant guidance and support in implementing the University’s policy of conducting examinations and admissions in a fair, transparent, and time-bound manner while ensuring timely declaration of results.
Prof. Haque highlighted that the University’s End Semester Examinations and Admission Tests were conducted almost simultaneously through meticulous planning and optimal utilization of University resources. He further stated that, in addition to the introduction of SWAYAM courses, the admission process also incorporated the multiple-entry provisions envisaged under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
To strengthen the integrity of the admission process, additional security measures were introduced this year. Metal detectors were deployed at the entry gates of all admission test centres to detect and prevent impersonation and other unfair practices. Prof. Haque also appreciated the dedicated efforts of the staff of the Office of the Controller of Examinations for successfully completing this massive exercise within the stipulated timeframe. Prof. Haque has appreciated the support received from the Deans of the Faculties, Heads of the departments , Directors of the Centres, Faculty members for their support in implementing the policy to conduct exam work on time.
Expressing his satisfaction, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif, congratulated Prof. Ahteshamul Haque his team of the Office of the Controller of Examinations for completing the examination and admission process in record time through meticulous planning and efficient execution. He remarked that the timely conduct of examinations, admissions, and result declarations would significantly contribute to the University’s academic planning and future growth.
The Hon’ble Registrar, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, also congratulated the Controller of Examinations and his team for accomplishing the task in a highly coordinated and professional manner. He particularly appreciated the CoE Prof. Haque for starting University’s in-house confidential printing facility and the continued automation initiatives undertaken, describing them as commendable achievements that have significantly enhanced the efficiency and transparency of the examination system.
