Centre for NaMo Studies Constitutes Internal Committee Under POSH Act, Adopts Key Institutional Policies

CNMS Strengthens Institutional Accountability with New Governance and Compliance Manual

TNN News : The Centre for NaMo Studies (CNMS), a leading public policy, research and academic institution, has formally adopted its Institutional Governance, Ethics and Compliance Manual – 2026 Edition, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, ethical governance, gender justice, child safeguarding, financial integrity and institutional excellence.

The manual, approved by Prof. (Dr.) Jasim Mohammad, Managing Trustee and Chairman of CNMS, introduces a comprehensive framework of organisational policies aimed at ensuring responsible governance and compliance with national legal and ethical standards. The newly adopted framework includes the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Policy, Finance and Financial Management Policy, Procurement and Vendor Management Policy, Human Resources (HR) Policy, Travel and Reimbursement Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy, and Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

According to Prof. Jasim Mohammad, the adoption of these policies reflects CNMS’s commitment to building a professionally managed, transparent, inclusive and accountable institution dedicated to research, public policy, education and nation-building.

In compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, CNMS has also constituted its Internal Committee (IC) to address complaints related to workplace sexual harassment and to promote a safe, respectful and inclusive working environment. The committee is headed by Prof. Jasim Mohammad as Patron, while Prof. Divya Rashmi, Chairperson of Divye Foundation, New Delhi, will serve as the Presiding Officer. Dr. Anu B., Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court of India, has been appointed as the External Legal Member. Other members of the committee include Nadeem Waris Khan, Advocate; Mrs. Nikhat Parveen, Director, Media Centre, Aligarh; Mr. Jawaid Rahmani, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Journalism Today Group; Dr. Deeba Abrar of HUM NGO, Aligarh; Ms. Ismat Chughtai, Advocate at the Delhi High Court; and Prof. Zakia A. Siddiqi, former Principal of Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University. Dr. Daulat Ram, Trustee of CNMS, will serve as the coordinator of the committee.

The Internal Committee will be responsible for addressing complaints, conducting awareness programmes, promoting gender sensitisation and ensuring compliance with statutory provisions under the POSH Act.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jasim Mohammad said that the adoption of the Governance, Ethics and Compliance Manual marks a significant milestone in the institutional development of CNMS. He noted that the framework aligns the organisation with best practices in governance, transparency, legal compliance and public accountability while strengthening stakeholder confidence in the institution’s research, educational and nation-building initiatives.

Dr. Daulat Ram, Trustee of CNMS, stated that the policies would be reviewed periodically to ensure continued compliance with evolving legal requirements, donor expectations and organisational needs. He added that the adoption of the manual would further strengthen CNMS’s commitment to ethical conduct, responsible governance and institutional excellence.
