Extended Breastfeeding Awareness Camp Organized at AKTC, AMU

TNN News : The Department of Amraze Niswan wa Qabalat, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), Aligarh Muslim University, organized an extended awareness camp at OPD-4 of the hospital as part of World Breastfeeding Week 2025.
The camp was inaugurated by Prof. Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, and Prof. B. D. Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College. Also present on the occasion were Prof. Suboohi Mustafa, Chairperson, Department of AmrazeNiswanwaQabalat, along with faculty members Dr.Abiha Ahmad Khan, Dr.FehmeedaZeenat, and postgraduate residents of the department.
The camp commenced with an informative and interactive awareness session conducted by a team of doctors from the Department of NiswanwaQabalat. The session was specifically designed for expectant and lactating mothers, who attended the programme accompanied by family members and attendants.
Prof. Suboohi Mustafa emphasized the significance of breastfeeding in the early stages of a child’s life, highlighting its role in strengthening the infant’s immune system, promoting emotional bonding between mother and child, and supporting physical and cognitive development.
The initiative was coordinated under the leadership of Dr.Abiha Ahmad Khan with active support from the department’s faculty and residents. The camp served as an important platform to raise awareness and address maternal health concerns, infant nutrition, and postpartum care.
Interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, and one-on-one consultations enhanced the impact of the programme.
