JMI’s Faculty of Dentistry conducts day-long lecture series on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Dental Education’

TNN News : The Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, yesterday hosted a one-day guests lecture series under the SPARC–UKIERI collaborative project, “Artificial Intelligence in Dental Education,” as part of the ongoing eight-module training programme, “A Comprehensive Training Module in Artificial Intelligence for Dental Students”. The event, being the fourth contact session of the programme, continued the objective of equipping dental students with contemporary knowledge and practical insights into the applications of artificial intelligence in dental education and research.

The programme commenced with Prof. Nadeem Yunus, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, addressing the participants. He conveyed sincere gratitude for entrusting Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, for hosting this prestigious collaborative programme. He also encouraged students to actively engage with the sessions and make the most of the opportunity to learn from experts in the field of artificial intelligence.

The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Deepak Rai, Interdisciplinary Orthodontist, Founder of Neosmile Dental Practice and Neosmile India Education, Noida, who discussed advanced applications of artificial intelligence in dental education and research. The session focused on the integration of AI-enabled technologies into academic learning, research methodologies, and future clinical practice. Dr. Rai also emphasized the importance of developing critical appraisal skills while using AI-assisted tools and encouraged participants to embrace technological innovations responsibly within the dental practice.

The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Varun Surya, Assistant Professor, Centre for Dental Education and Research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, who shared his expertise on the application of artificial intelligence in dentistry. The session highlighted the growing role of AI-driven technologies in improving clinical decision-making, diagnostics, treatment planning, and research.

A vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Abhishek Mehta, who expressed his sincere gratitude to the higher authorities of JMI, and esteemed speakers – Dr. Varun Surya and Dr. Deepak Rai, for their insightful and engaging sessions. The session witnessed 100 participation comprising faculty members, undergraduate students, and interns, of the Faculty of Dentistry. The interactive discussions were well appreciated by the participants. The event was coordinated by Prof. Abhishek Mehta, Prof. Vivek Mehta and Prof. Aditi Verma.
