Prof Abrar Ahmad Khan to Head AMU’s Department of Botany

TNN News : Prof Abrar Ahmad Khan has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), for a term beginning July 15, 2025, and continuing until October 29, 2027, the date of his superannuation.
A seasoned academician with over 36 years of research experience and 26 years of teaching, Prof. Khan specializes in plant nematology and air pollution studies. He earned his M.Sc.
, M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Botany from AMU, with his doctoral research focusing on root-knot nematodes of vegetable crops. He served in key academic and administrative roles, including Head of the Departments of Biology and Microbiology at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Nigeria.
Prof. Khan has published more than 180 scholarly works, including 76 papers in international journals across countries like the USA, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Egypt, Nigeria, and Finland. He has also authored and edited scientific books and journals.
In addition to his academic credentials, he has served on numerous university committees.
