Prof. Md. Imtaiyaz Hassan Honored with Careers360 Faculty Research Award for Most Outstanding Researcher

Prof. Md. Imtaiyaz Hassan, Professor, Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences and Officiating Director of DDU KAUSHAL Kendra, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has been honored with the prestigious Careers360 3rd Faculty Research Award for Most Outstanding Researcher in the Country in the field of Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology. The award comprises a citation and a cash prize of ₹50,000.
The award recognizes Prof. Hassan’s significant contributions to research and his sustained impact on the national and global scientific community. The prestigious recognition was presented at the Careers360 3rd Faculty Research Awards Ceremony, held on October 1, 2026, at The Imperial, Janpath, New Delhi, following the India Research and Impact Summit (IRIS) 2026.
The Careers360 Faculty Research Awards are based on a rigorous, data-driven assessment of researchers’ scholarly contributions. The evaluation considered research output and publication records in Scopus-indexed journals, citation impact, and h-index, among other research-performance indicators, which play a vital role in the institution’s NIRF ranking. Prof. Hassan’s selection reflects the recognition of his sustained research contributions and their impact in the broad areas of biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology.
Prof. Hassan has established an internationally recognized research program spanning structural biology, drug discovery and medicinal chemistry, protein folding, molecular cell biology, protein kinase inhibitors, cancer therapeutics and neurodegenerative diseases. His research particularly focuses on structure-guided approaches for understanding disease-associated proteins and developing potential therapeutic molecules.
Through his research group at JMI, Prof. Hassan has contributed extensively to computational and experimental approaches in drug discovery, including protein–ligand interactions, molecular modeling, kinase inhibitor discovery, and the identification and validation of potential therapeutic compounds. His work integrates computational biology, structural analysis, and experimental validation to address important challenges in biomedical research.
The India Research and Impact Summit 2026 brought together leading researchers, academicians, institutional heads, policymakers, and other stakeholders from India’s higher education and research ecosystem. The summit featured prominent experts and senior leaders from leading public and private universities and research institutions.
Receiving the award, Prof. Hassan thanked Careers360 for the recognition and acknowledged the contributions of his students, research scholars, collaborators, and colleagues, whose efforts have been integral to his group’s research programs.
The recognition further adds to Prof. Hassan’s growing list of academic and research distinctions and highlights the contribution of researchers at Jamia Millia Islamia to advancing interdisciplinary and translational research in the life sciences.
