Jamia Millia Islamia Achieves Outstanding Score in Third Party Transparency Audit, Reaffirms Commitment to Proactive Disclosure under the RTI Act
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has achieved an exceptional score of 802 out of 825 in the latest Third-Party Transparency Audit conducted to assess compliance with the proactive disclosure requirements prescribed under Section 4 of the Right to Information Act, 2005. This is the highest score secured by JAMIA MILLIA ISLAMIA till date, reflecting its sustained commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
JMI has established a comprehensive and user-friendly Suo Motu Disclosure webpage on the University Website, where information prescribed under various clauses of Section 4 is made available through a structured and easy-to-navigate drop-down menu. The webpage provides stakeholders with ready access to institutional information and significantly advances the objective of transparency envisioned under the RTI Act.

The transparency audit was carried out by a Government Training institute recognized by the Central Information Commission (CIC) for conducting third-party assessments of compliance with the proactive disclosure obligations under the RTI Act.
This assessment followed the Guidelines on Suo Motu disclosure under Section 4 of the RTI Act issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT). The evaluation examined the Self- Appraisal Report of JMI for 2025-26 and its official website (https://jmi.ac.in/) to ensure adherence to prescribed guidelines for Central Government Ministries & Departments. The auditors have commended JMI for its commitment to transparency by making essential information accessible on its website.
Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor JMI, Prof. Mazhar Asif said:
“This achievement reflects Jamia Millia Islamia’s steadfast commitment to transparency, accountability, and public service. Proactive disclosure is not merely a legal requirement but an essential element of good governance. Securing our highest-ever score in the transparency audit is a matter of pride for the University and demonstrates our collective resolve to ensure that information of public importance remains readily accessible to all stakeholders. We shall continue to strengthen our systems and uphold the highest standards of transparency in institutional functioning.”
The Registrar, JMI, and First Appellate Authority (FAA) – (University Sector), Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, also congratulated all concerned officers and staff and stated:

The University places on record its appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the RTI Nodal Officer & Central Public Information Officers (CPIO) – (University Sector), Prof. Shabana Mehfuz, whose coordination, and regular follow-up played a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the audit requirements. The achievement was made possible through the collective contribution of all the members of the RTI Cell, the Controller & FAA (Exams.), Prof. Ahteshamul Haque, Director (CDOE) & FAA (CDOE), Prof. Aslam Khan, the Transparency Officer, Prof. Shakeb Ahmad Khan, CAPIO (University Sector), Dr. Ibadur Rahman, CPIO (Exams.), Dr. Amina Hussain, CPIO (CDOE), Dr. Maqsood Ahmad Malik, Director, Centre for Information Technology, the Finance Officer and officials from various faculties, departments, centres, offices, and administrative units who worked diligently to ensure that information hosted on the University website remained complete, accurate, and up to date.
The high score attained by JMI underscores the University’s commitment to the spirit of the Right to Information Act, which seeks to promote openness in public institutions through proactive dissemination of information. By making a wide range of information available in the public domain, the University seeks to empower citizens, enhance administrative accountability, and reduce the need for individual RTI applications.
