Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, inaugurates a multidisciplinary refresher course on ‘Artificial Intelligence: AI as Catalyst for Academic Synergy’

TNN News : The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) today inaugurated a two-week multidisciplinary refresher course on ‘Artificial Intelligence: AI as Catalyst for Academic Synergy’ in hybrid mode from 6-22 August, 2025, with 91 participants from 12 states and a diversity of institutions of higher education across India. 

The programme began with the welcome and introduction of the three distinguished coordinators of the Refresher Course, namely, Prof. Sarfaraz Masood, Department of Computer Engineering; Prof. Mansaf Alam, and Dr. Khalid Raza from the Department of Computer Science, JMI, by the Hony Director, MMTTC, JMI, Prof. Kulwinder Kaur and Dr. Shahla Tarannum, MMTTC. The Guest of Honour of the inaugural session, Prof. Tanvir Ahmad, Additional Director, FTK-CIT, JMI, in his address expressed the importance of embracing AI advancements in our daily lives instead of being skeptical about them. He gave illustrations from various leading areas of applications like engineering, healthcare, finance, education, and management where AI models were proving to be pivotal for the society at large.

Prof. Zahid Raza, Dean, School of Computer Systems Sciences, JNU, New Delhi, the distinguished speaker of the inaugural session, presented the foundation and fundamentals of AI to the participants, including the good, the bad, and the ugly versions of AI and explained the ways to mitigate these challenges. The programme was followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. Khalid Raza and a group photograph.
