National Recognition for AMU Research Talent

TNN News : Bushra Fatima, a final-semester M.Tech. student at the Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre (INC), Aligarh Muslim University, has secured the First Prize in the Poster Presentation Competition under the prestigious Student Excellence Award, organised by Vimal Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai.
The award, nationally recognised and hosted by one of India’s leading life sciences companies, celebrates academic excellence and innovative research. The jury comprised industry leaders including Mr. R.B. Mohile, Promoter and Managing Director, CLAIMS Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Ravi Krishnan, Consultant in Color Cosmetics and Skin Care; Mrs. Punita Kalra, CEO – Research and Innovation Strategy and Corporate Quality, Emami Ltd.; and Dr. Karan Mittal, Director – Research and Innovation, Minimalist.
Bushra Fatima received the First Prize from Dr. Anjan Ray, former Director of CSIR–Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun.
The Guest of Honour Dr. Ajit Kumar Shasany, Director of CSIR–National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow, appreciated the high scientific standards demonstrated by the participants and congratulated Fatima for her outstanding contribution. In recognition of her potential, he extended a fully sponsored invitation to her for advanced training at CSIR–NBRI, providing a significant opportunity to deepen her expertise in botanical and nanotechnology research.
Fatima’s award-winning research focuses on the green synthesis of nanomaterials for cosmetic applications, blending sustainability with high-impact innovation in nanotechnology. Her work was recognised for its originality, scientific rigor, and practical relevance, emerging as the top entry among submissions from reputed institutions across the country.
Her dissertation was completed under the mentorship of Professor Absar Ahmad, a renowned expert in green nanotechnology and the Founder Director of the Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre at AMU. He said that Fatima’s achievement is a moment of pride for the Centre and the University. It reflects the Centre’s commitment to fostering innovation and academic excellence.
Acknowledging the support of her peers, Fatima especially credited Dr. Sk. Najrul Islam for his enriching guidance throughout her research journey.
