NSS AMU Organizes Seminar on Women’s Safety, Respect & Mission Shakti Yojana

TNN News : The NSS Unit of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized a seminar on “Safety, Respect, and Mission Shakti for Women and Girls.” The event featured Ms. Seema Singh (Regional Manager, UPSICDA, Aligarh) as the Chief Guest. A social worker and advocate for women’s rights, Ms. Singh emphasized the importance of empowering women and ensuring their safety.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Seema Singh elaborated on the Mission Shakti Yojana, calling it a transformative initiative against gender-based violence. She urged every segment of society to actively contribute to the safety and dignity of women.
“For real change, not just government efforts, but a collective societal shift is needed,” she remarked, encouraging youth to promote a culture of respect and protection for women.
The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and university staff. Dr. Mohsin Khan, NSS Coordinator, AMU, opened the session by highlighting societal attitudes towards women and the significance of their rights.
Mr. Abdul Jabbar (Programme Officer, NSS) played a key role in organizing the event, with support from Muhammad Imran Khan, Nahid Akbari, and Zeba.
Ms. Nazia Begum (Programme Officer, NSS) delivered the vote of thanks. The seminar concluded with a call for action towards women’s empowerment and safety.
