Prof. Mohammad Akram Appointed Chairman of AMU’s Department of Sociology

TNN News : Prof. Mohammad Akram has been appointed as the Chairman of the Department of Sociology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), for a term of three years, effective from July 15, 2025.
Prof. Akram, who has been serving as Professor in the department since 2015, brings with him over 23 years of teaching and research experience. His areas of specialization include Sociology of Health, Social Policy and Development, Sociology of Education, and Research Methodology. His scholarly contributions span more than 30 peer-reviewed research papers, 9 book chapters, and 6 books and edited volumes.
His work has earned recognition at both national and international levels, including presentations at the International Sociological Association’s World Congress and the British Sociological Association’s conferences. He has also served as Deputy Coordinator of UGC-SAP (DRS-I and II) projects at AMU and is a life member of several professional organizations, including the Indian Sociological Society and the International Sociological Association.
