Jamia Millia Islamia hosts a Delegation from Purbanchal University, Nepal for Capacity Building on Quality Assurance and Governance

TNN News : A high-level delegation from Purbanchal University, Nepal, yesterday visited Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) for a capacity-building and institutional exposure programme on Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA), governance systems, and best practices in higher education.
Organized in line with the quality assurance framework of the University Grants Commission, Nepal, the visit supported Purbanchal University’s ongoing academic and administrative reforms. The delegation comprised senior academic leaders, examination officials, and administrators of Purbanchal University, Nepal.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Ushvinder Kaur Popli, Dean, International Relations, highlighted Jamia’s legacy, academic excellence, and commitment to regional collaboration. Prof. Tanuja, Dean, Academic Affairs, presented a concise overview of the university’s academic structure, achievements, and inclusive, research-oriented growth.
Prof. Ahteshamul Haque, Controller of Examinations, outlined Jamia’s large-scale, technology-driven admission and examination systems, emphasizing efficiency, transparency, and digital integration. Dr. Rafat Parveen, Director, IQAC, presented the university’s quality assurance framework, highlighting accreditation processes, stakeholder feedback systems, and continuous improvement strategies.
The team leader of Purbanchal University, Prof. Pashant Kumar Lal, appreciated Jamia’s hospitality and described it as a benchmark institution in quality assurance, accreditation, examination systems, and digital governance, while expressing interest in learning about AI-enabled academic practices.
The interaction at Jamia was led by a distinguished group of senior academic and administrative functionaries representing key domains of university governance, including Deans of International Relations, Academic Affairs, Research & Innovation, Engineering & Technology, Humanities & Languages, Life Sciences, and Social Sciences; the Controller of Examinations; the Director, IQAC; the Chief Public Relations Officer; the University Librarian; and senior officers from administration, finance, planning, legal affairs, and establishment.
The interactive session enabled meaningful exchange on governance, examination reforms, faculty development, digital systems, and quality benchmarks. The visiting delegation gained comprehensive insights into Jamia’s academic structure, research ecosystem, and administrative framework through engagements with senior academic and administrative functionaries.
This broad-based participation enabled the visiting delegation to gain a comprehensive understanding of Jamia’s academic structure, research ecosystem, examination systems, quality assurance processes, and administrative framework.
The delegation also toured key facilities, including the Central Library, Central Instrumentation Facilities, and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences (CIRBS), showcasing advanced infrastructure and research support systems.
The Dean of International Relations extended her deep appreciation for the constant support and guidance of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif, and the esteemed Registrar, JMI, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, whose leadership continues to strengthen such mentoring and institutional handholding initiatives at Jamia Millia Islamia.
Jamia Millia Islamia described the visit as a meaningful capacity-building initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to academic mentorship and collaborative partnerships, further strengthening institutional ties with Purbanchal University.
