JMI Faculty Member Receives Outstanding Dental Educator Award 2026
TNN News : Dr Aman Chowdhry, Professor, Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has been conferred the Outstanding Dental Educator Award 2026 by the Pierre Fauchard Academy in recognition of his significant contributions to forensic odontology, dental education, research, and mentorship. The award was presented on 6 June 2026 during a prestigious academic programme held at Manav Rachna Dental College, Faridabad.
Congratulating Dr Chowdhry on receiving the prestigious honour, Dr Nadeem Yunus, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, JMI, stated that the award reflects the growing academic and research excellence of the Faculty of Dentistry and underscores the dedication of its faculty members towards advancing emerging frontiers in dental science.
In 2007, forensic odontology was formally added to India’s undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program. Dr Aman Chowdhry has been actively involved in the field ever since, making a substantial contribution to its expansion and advancement. Working together with his colleagues, Dr Priyanka Kapoor and Dr Deepika B. Popli he has contributed significantly to the advancement of this new and highly specialised field nationwide through training, research, teaching, and capacity-building programs.
Dr Chowdhry and his team focus on the application of dental sciences in dental anthropology, Dental profiling (including dental age estimation), forensic facial approximation, and other forensic investigations involving oral and para-oral structures. Through research publications, academic collaborations, and the mentorship of students and young researchers, they have contributed significantly to advancing forensic odontology as an integral component of modern dental sciences in India.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr Chowdhry dedicated the award to his mentors, colleagues, students, and family members whose encouragement and support have been instrumental throughout his academic journey. He stated that the recognition would further motivate him to continue contributing towards excellence in dental education, forensic odontology research, and professional mentorship.
