Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya & CNMS to Host ICSSR Sponsored National Seminar on Women Empowerment under the Leadership of PM Narendra Modi

Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) is sponsoring a two-day national seminar on “Women Empowerment Efforts under Prime Minister Shri Narendra ModiJi,” to be held on August 5 and 6, 2025 at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The event is being organized by the Department of Education, GGV, in academic collaboration with the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies (CNMS – NaMo Kendra)

The seminar aims to provide a national platform for scholars, researchers, students, and policymakers to deliberate on various initiatives undertaken by the Government of India for women’s empowerment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Key themes of the seminar include financial inclusion, healthcare, quality education, skill development, legal safeguards, leadership, and safety measures for women.

According to the concept note, the Modi government’s model for women’s empowerment rests on a comprehensive and integrated approach—addressing economic, educational, health, legal, and leadership dimensions. The seminar seeks to examine the reach and impact of these policies in shaping a more inclusive and equitable society.

The academic leadership of the seminar includes Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal, Vice Chancellor of GGV, as Chief Patron, and Prof. A. S. Ranadive, Registrar, as Patron. The conveners are Prof. C. S. Vazalwar, Dean, SoS Education, and Prof. Sambit Kumar Padhi, Head, Department of Education. Dr. Jyoti Verma, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, is serving as the Organising Secretary.

Dr. Jyoti Verma, Organising Secretary of the seminar, expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming event, stating, “This seminar is a great chance for teachers, researchers, and students to come together and talk about the important steps taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government to support and empower women. We want to create a meaningful discussion on how these efforts have helped women in different areas like education, health, safety, and jobs. With support from ICSSR and collaboration with the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies, we hope this seminar will inspire new ideas and research on women’s empowerment”.

This national-level academic platform seeks to inspire dialogue, shape research, and strengthen awareness on gender equity and the powerful transformation underway in India for women.
