Muslim Forum & IICS Welcomes Hazar Imam’s Official Visit to Bharat, Thanks PM Narendra Modi
TNN NEWS, 10 August 2026: Forum for Muslim Studies & Analysis (FMSA) & Trustee of IICS Prof Jasim Mohammad, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Government of India for extending a gracious invitation to Mawlana Hazar Imam Shah Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan for his official visit to Bharat from September 9 to 15, 2026.
Trustee of Institute of Islamic & Cross-Cultural Studies (IICS) Prof. Jasim Mohammad described the invitation as a “thoughtful and historic gesture” that reflects the longstanding bonds of friendship, mutual respect and shared values between India and the Ismaili Imamat. He said the visit would be warmly welcomed by the global Ismaili community and would provide a significant opportunity for Hazar Imam to meet members of his Jamat in India.
Highlighting the Ismaili community’s contributions, Prof. Jasim Mohammad noted that Ismailis have played an important role in education, healthcare, rural development, heritage conservation, culture and philanthropy through the Aga Khan Development Network, benefiting people across communities.
He also recalled with gratitude the conferment of the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 upon the late Hazar Imam, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, recognising his distinguished contributions to India and humanity.
Prof. Jasim Mohammad said the Ismaili community shares a warm relationship with Prime Minister Modi, based on mutual respect, development and a shared vision of an inclusive and progressive India.
He expressed hope that the forthcoming visit would further strengthen the enduring bonds between India, the Ismaili Imamat and the global Ismaili community, while opening new avenues of cooperation in the service of humanity.
