Urdu Academy, AMU Organizes Mushaira to Promote National Unity
TNN News : The Urdu Academy, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized a Mushaira to celebrate and promote the spirit of national unity. The event was presided over by the Director of the Academy, Prof. Quamrul Hooda Faridi, with Prof. Ghazanfar Ali and Prof. Mehtab Haider Naqvi as special guests.
In his presidential remarks, Prof. Faridi highlighted the historical role of Urdu poetry in fostering national integration, supporting India’s freedom movement, and upholding the country’s enduring values of communal harmony and tolerance. Prof. Ghazanfar Ali emphasized that Urdu is a language of shared heritage and has made significant contributions to the nation’s progress and cultural development.
The Mushaira commenced with a Naatiya poem by Dr. Irfan Ahmed, and featured poetic recitations by Professor Ghazanfar Ali, Professor Mehtab Haider Naqvi, Professor Siraj Ajmli, Naseem Noori, Johnny Foster, Dr. Muhammad Abu Swaleh, Meraj Nishat, Dr. Mushtaq Sadaf, Saddam Hussain, Areeb Usmani, and others.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Mushtaque Sadaf, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rafiuddin.
