AMU Law Faculty Shines at 6th SCCA International Arabic Moot Competition

TNN News : The Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has achieved a milestone as a team of five students—Mr. Jamil Jawhar, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah, Mr. Jamal Ahamad, Mr. Mohd Abuzar, and Mr. Abdullah Hasan Khan—represented the university at the 6th Edition of the SCCA International Arabic Moot Competition 2024–25. The competition was held from February 23 to 26, 2025, at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during Riyadh International Disputes Week 2025, organized by the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA).
This marks the first time in AMU’s history that a moot court team has competed in an international Arabic-language moot competition. Facing 154 teams from 24 countries, team AMU showcased legal acumen, surpassing many experienced Arab teams.
The team secured 48th rank in the Plaintiff’s Memorandum category and was honored with the Exceptional Performance Award.
The team attributed its success to the guidance and support from AMU administration and praised AMU Old Boys Association, Riyadh, for their hospitality and sponsorship, which significantly contributed to the team’s participation.
This achievement not only brings immense pride to AMU but also sets a strong precedent for future international participation in Arabic-language legal competitions.
