AMU’s STS School Hosts “NashaMukt Bharat–2047” Awareness Program to Tackle Social Challenges

TNN News : In a meaningful step towards addressing critical social issues, STS School (Minto Circle), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized an awareness programme under the national “NashaMukt Bharat–2047” campaign initiated by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The event highlighted AMU’s continued commitment to sensitizing students and the community on urgent societal concerns.
Held in the A.V. Lab of the school, the programme featured a keynote address by Dr. Ali Jafar Abedi, Health Officer from the Department of Community Medicine, JNMC, AMU. Dr. Abedi delivered a lecture on the dangers of drug addiction, highlighting the importance of youth empowerment through education, awareness, and mental wellness. “Combating substance abuse requires a shared responsibility,” said Dr. Abedi, “with parents, teachers, and students playing vital roles in building resilient communities free from addiction.”
Mr. Faisal Nafis, Principal, STS School, stressed the urgency of early preventive education. “Drugs silently paralyze not just individuals, but entire families and the progress of the nation. We must steer our youth towards health, purpose, and discipline,” he remarked.
The session concluded with students, faculty, and staff taking the official NCB e-pledge, affirming their resolve to contribute to a drug-free India by 2047.
The event was coordinated by Mrs. Ghazala Tanvir and witnessed the presence of Vice Principal Dr. Md Alamgir, Mr. Nooruzzama Arshad, Mrs. Neelofar Anwar, Mr. Mohd Mansoor Khan, along with several other faculty and staff members.
AMU’s initiative exhibits its proactive role in building a socially responsible and aware generation.
