JMI’s Proctorial Department celebrates World Environment Day

TNN News : The Proctorial Department successfully organized a thoughtful and action-oriented celebration on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025 on 5th June 2025 in the Proctor Office Lawn. The event was held in alignment with the global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution”, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable solutions and individual responsibility.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, security staff and Proctor Office staff and included a wide range of activities such as a special talk, pledge-taking, tree plantation, and environment-themed message writing.
Prof. Neelofer Afzal, Dean, Students’ Welfare attended the event as the Chief Guest while Prof. Iqtidar Mohammad Khan, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Languages and Mr. Syed Abdul Rashid, Security Advisor remained Guests of Honour. They were warmly felicitated by presenting them with saplings as a token of appreciation and a symbol of environmental commitment. Prof. Mohammad Asad Malik, Chief Proctor, presided over the event.
Prof. Harneet Kaur delivered an enlightening talk on the theme Ending Plastic Pollution, stressing on sustainable alternatives and youth-led environmental action. Prof. Mohammad Asad Malik addressed the gathering, connecting environmental concerns with legal, ethical, and civic responsibilities. All attendees collectively took a pledge administered by Prof. Nikhat Manzoor to protect and preserve the environment. Later, dignitaries, faculty members and staff participated in a symbolic tree plantation ceremony in the campus lawn. Participants also expressed their environmental concerns and hopes through creative, handwritten messages. The program was compered by Dr. Anwara Hashmi, Assistant Proctor while Prof. Rajan Patel, Deputy Proctor extended heartfelt thanks to all guests, speakers, and contributors. Mr. Shah Abul Faiz, Assistant Proctor also actively participated in the program as Co-coordinator.
The event focused not only on awareness but also on action and participation. All segments of the program were documented through photography, capturing memorable moments. The event encouraged students and faculty to actively contribute towards a plastic-free, greener campus.
The event served as a powerful reminder that environmental responsibility begins with each one of us. With inspiring words, symbolic actions, and collective commitment, the event strengthened the university’s resolve to contribute meaningfully to global sustainability goals.
